TURNING ON
AND OFF THE COMPUTER (BOOTING)
Booting is the process of turning on the computer so
that the computer and its components can started for use. Booting is of two
types. They are:
COLD
BOOTING.
WARM
BOOTING.

COLD BOOTING is the process of turning on the computer
after it has been switched off.
When the
computer freezes.
When it is
overloaded with many programs.
When it is
affected by computer virus.
When a new
program is installed.
HOW TO TURN
ON A COMPUTER
Make sure
all cables are connected to the system unit properly.
Connect all
sockets properly.
Remove all
removable storage device from the system unit.
Press on
the power button of the system unit.
Press the
power button of the monitor.
Wait for
the system unit to boot. (do not press any key when the system is booting).
HOW TO TURN
OFF THE COMPUTER
Close all opened applications. (Application you are
working on).
Click on the start button.
Click on turn off or shutdown.
Click on the turn off from the dialogue that appears
Wait for the monitor screen to go off.
Turn off the monitor
Switch of the main power supply.

High volume of radios, loud ringing tones and public
address systems damages hearing.
Radiation from mobile phones causes cancer.
Exposure to the television for long time can affect

Sitting at the same position for a long period of
time.
Sitting too close to ICT tools like monitor and
television.
When you work with ICT tools for long hours without break.
A poor working environment.
SAFETY
PRECAUTIONS FOR THE USE OF ICT TOOLS
Minimize volumes when hearing (listening) to avoid
damage.
Avoid receiving calls when charging phones.
Do not stare at the monitor or the television for a
long time without turning.
